This fall, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD (GCISD) will open two Pre-K 3 classrooms at its Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC). The addition of these Pre-K 3 classrooms is funded through an expansion grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), which covers teacher salaries and classroom furniture.
“It allows us to serve more parents in the way they need. This is a benefit to the families that were in public childcare. It gets parents and students in the door," shares Kristi Brown, GCISD’s Director of Elementary ELA and Early Childhood.
Early access to quality academic experiences is significant. Data analyzed by Rev Partnership shows that eligible students who attend Pre-K score 26 percentage points higher on Kindergarten-readiness assessments compared to eligible students who do not attend Pre-K[i]. Early childhood education significantly impacts academic achievement and readiness, establishing a strong foundation for future success.
“I’m excited to get kids a year earlier[EB1] ,” shares Kristi. “Rev Partnership has put me in touch with the right people. We have had these meetings about partnerships before, but seeing the impact that even one to two [Pre-K] classrooms can have is tremendous.”
Rev Partnership is a coalition of Tarrant County’s public education leaders for the purpose of driving system improvement in the strategic priorities Superintendents identified as our region’s top priorities: Early literacy, through initial investments in Pre-K enrollment, and building a pipeline of effective classroom educators for our students. Rev Partnership plays the role of convener and facilitator, and when districts necessitate partnerships to move action plans forward, Rev brokers those partnerships, as it did between GCISD and TWC. This partnership ensures that GCISD has the necessary financial resources to launch its Pre-K 3 program.
This program is not just a milestone for GCISD; it’s a direct benefit to families throughout the district. Rev Partnership is committed to working alongside district and community leaders to continue to broker partnerships that benefit students throughout our region.
